At the University of South Florida professor has received a national award for its impact on students with learning disabilities.

The Professor David Allsopp was called by the Learning Disabilities Association of America Sam Kirk Educator of the Year.

The prize is named in honor of Dr. Samuel Kirk, a pioneer in training. Kirk often credited with inventing the term "learning disabilities."

The national award is given annually to an outstanding in the field of special education, a difference in the lives of people with learning disabilities teacher has made.

Allsopp taught at USF since 2001 he has been Professor at the undergraduate and Doctor oriented courses on teaching methods related to effective for students with disabilities and high impact research methods for the development and validation of methods for students with disabilities.

"As a professional has special training since 1984 to students concentrated with disabilities and other learning difficulties in learning, I can not can think of a greater honor to receive this," Allsopp Sam Kirk said. came before the USF, Allsopp was a faculty member of the Special Education Program at James Madison University. He began his career as a high school teacher for students with learning disabilities and emotional and behavioral problems in Ocala, Florida.
